For the first time the topic of “eternity” in the ancient Egyptian concept of the afterlife is not presented in relation to death and the burial practices, but in relation to life and (re)birth in the afterlife.
The exhibition Ancient Egypt, organized at the Moesgaard Museum in Aarhus, Denmark, presented +200 unique original artifacts from different prestigious Egyptian collections, including the collection of the Museo Archeologico Nazionale of Florence, the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden of Leiden and the National Museum of Denmark. Visitors were guided throughout the exhibition from the very moment the deceased takes his last breath, through complex embalming processes, to his journey as a mummy in the underworld, and back again into the brilliant sunshine of the afterlife and eternal existence.
