After years of an arduous and complex restoration, the resplendent “La Madonna del Cardellino” by Raffaello was unveiled in 2008 in this special exhibition conceived to showcase not only the painting, but also the restoration process.
This unique exhibition unfolded in the prestigious Palazzo Medici Riccardi, Florence. The restoration effort was led by the respected Opificio delle Pietre Dure of Florence, Italy, in collaboration with the Galleria degli Uffizi, and every phase of the process was illustrated and documented through an inventive exhibition design featuring an exceptional mix of graphic panels and video installations conceived and realized by Contemporanea Progetti. The exhibition design aimed to make this complex restoration process appreciable by both specialists and the general public.
