The exhibition FOOTBALL. The Passion for the World Cup aims to celebrate the most beloved sport as a universal, social and cultural phenomenon, through an extraordinary and evocative journey in time and space.
Organized by Contemporanea Progetti and Expona in collaboration with the National Museum of Liechtenstein, the Museo del Calcio Internazionale in Rome and the FIFA Museum in Zurich, this special exhibition retraces the most important steps in the evolution of football: from its origins and official birth with codified rules, to the development of the sport at an international level, finally arriving in the modern era with the most famous championship ever, the FIFA World Cup.
Through a unique selection of original objects – vintage photographs, memorabilia, original posters, uniforms, mascots – but also immersive rooms, multimedia interactive devices, historical and modern videos, this one-of-a-kind exhibition attests to the feats and milestones of many great champions and evokes the deep and true passion for the most beautiful games of all times.
More than just a historical overview on the game of football, the exhibition is a mirror on the world of football as a cultural and social phenomenon, a cultural system with links to many different fields: entertainment, communication, politics and business. Organized in collaboration with the Museo del Calcio Internazionale in Italy, the FIFA Museum, and Expona.
